I'm working on a Silverlight project and came across the error 405-Method not Allowed when trying to update a service reference. Took me a few minutes to realize what was causing this. I took a look at the handler mappings and found my problem. Can you see it?

In case you can't, there's no handler registered for the *.SVC extension. To correct the problem I had to run "ServiceModelReg.exe -r"

The MIX09 announcements today had me excited. I didn't make it to Las Vegas but saw the keynoat in the Silverlight streaming interface on http://visitmix.com.
The things that stood out the most to me were the SuperPreview function in Expressions Web 3 (see what your site will look like across several browser versions), lots of improvements in Visual Studio 2010 (Sharepoint debugging, yay!) and lots of other enhanvements for web development. The most exciting changes of all are occurring within Silverlight 3.0. It is getting GPU support and full 3D rendering, and support for offline Silverlight applications. The Silverlight betas are available today, but be forewarned that if you install them you will have a Silverlight 3.0 only development environment.
Rather than repost a summary of the announcements allow me to redirect you to a summary of the announcements here.

Hot on the heels of word that OEMs have IE6 for Windows Mobile is a video that was recorded at PDC 2008 this past week. The video is a little over an hour and shows the current build of Silverlight 2. The video shows a few applications that were built once but run on Windows Mobile and the desktop without alteration and speaks of usability considerations between the two devices. The presenters state that Silverlight will originally be available as a browser plug-in but later on it will be extended to be usable as a standalone application. The presenters also state that there will be a version of Silverlight for the Nokia phones. In response to questions from two of the Audience members there are currently no plans to make Silver Light available for the iPhone. The presenters state that Apple currently does not allow developers to publish browser plug-ins for the iPhone and that is their main obstacle.
You can see the recording here.
