I found out about this by way of WMExperts.com. When testing a program on one of my own devices my only choice is to move my primary SIM to the device on which I am performing testing; not a desired action since I usually have most of my personalized settings and information on my primary phone. Prepaid SIMs are not really an option. Here in the USA the 4 nation wide carriers fon't sell SIMs apart from phones. I purchased a prepaid phone and was able to use its SIM for a while, but eventually the carrier from which it came decided to no longer allow data access on the prepaid accounts.
Until now the only other way to get a SIM with data access was to get a SIM that was on a contract, until now. A new company named Zer01 Mobile is offerring unlimited void and data without a contract for $70 month. If you do international travel then you can get a plan that includes international roaming for about 80 USD/month. Best of all there is no contract associated with the service. Right now preregistration for the service is open. I'm signing up so I can see how this service will work with my data card or one of my other phones. If it works with my data card then I may consider dropping my current data service with AT&T (Which cost 70 USD + FCC taxes and fees).
